What is Single Stream Recycling?
So what is single stream recycling? Single stream (also known as “fully commingled” or “single-sort”) recycling refers to a system in which all paper fibers and containers are mixed together in a collection truck, instead of being sorted into separate commodities (newspaper, cardboard, plastic, glass, etc.) by the resident and handled separately throughout the collection process. In single stream, both the collection and processing systems are designed to handle this fully commingled mixture of recyclables, with materials being separated for reuse at a materials recovery facility.
So what does this mean for you? Well among other advantages, the main advantage to you is that your recycling efforts don’t have to be difficult to keep up with. You can simply bundle all of your recyclables in one bin and we’ll handle the rest.
